AFB Seminar: Data Use and Access Act 2025 – What are the Implications for AFB Members?

The UK has completed its post-Brexit reform of data protection following the passing into law of the Data (Use and Access) Act 2025 (DUAA) on 19 June 2025.

You are invited to attend an in-person seminar hosted by Ashurst, which will explore the implications of the DUAA for non-UK headquartered banks. The session will provide practical guidance on what your organisation’s immediate next steps should be, and will consider the anticipated secondary legislation.

Why attend?

  • To understand the key reforms to Data Protection and Privacy in the UK. Attendees will hear how the DUAA will impact existing data protection legislation, such as the UK GDPR, with a focus on what these changes mean for banks and financial institutions
  • To gain insights into the DUAA’s new framework for smart data schemes, including its scope, the practical considerations for your organisation and how it compares to the EU’s digital identity initiatives
  • To learn how the DUAA introduces a framework for trusted digital verification systems
  • To understand the expanded opportunities for AI-driven decision-making under the DUAA, and the potential impact on your operations and compliance strategies
  • To examine the DUAA’s reforms to marketing and cookie practices and what they mean in practice for cookie notices, cookie consent mechanisms and banners
  • Gain an overview of the UK’s data protection regulator’s (ICO) enhanced investigative powers and the new requirements for data subject complaint procedures

Who should attend?
This session is aimed primarily at those in Compliance, Business and Legal.
