Following exceptionally positive feedback and fully booked courses since its inception, we are delighted to announce that AFB will hold the Senior Managers Development Programme (SMDP) again in 2025. This programme is held in partnership with BCLP who have extensive experience in working with those in, or applying for, Senior Manager roles within banks.
Previous programmes have sold out within weeks. The programme is limited to 30 attendees, so to avoid disappointment we strongly advise you to book your place at your earliest convenience.
The AFB Senior Managers Development Programme will help those in Senior Manager Function roles and those preparing to step-up into SMF roles keep abreast of topical areas of regulatory change. The six-session programme will focus on current key issues facing foreign banks operating in the UK. It provides practical advice on what members need to do to ensure compliance and minimise the exposure within their firms.
The course sessions provide an overview of specific legal and regulatory issues and will considers recent and future developments. It will outline the latest regulatory expectations and requirements for authorised firms and their Senior Managers. Programme sessions have been lengthened this year to allow for more in-depth discussion.
The course will commence with a new short pre-course questionnaire to clarify attendee’s expectations and key learning aspirations. It will conclude with an optional new 30-minute one to one call with a partner from BCLP. Each session will include presentations, facilitated group discussions and Q&A. Who should attend?
Sessions are aimed at Senior Manager Function holders and those preparing to step-up into Senior Manager Function roles. This programme is intended to provide delegates with an understanding of the broad range of topics relevant to senior managers from international banks within and outside of the attendee’s specific areas of expertise.

Dates: 1 April, 1 May and 12 June 2025 (6 sessions on 3 dates)
Times: Session 1: 10:00 – 12:00 (registration from 09:30)
Session 2: 13:00 – 15:00 (lunch will be provided between sessions)
Cost: £1,950 plus VAT
