AFB Senior Managers Development Programme 2026

Following exceptionally positive feedback and fully booked courses since its inception, the AFB Senior Managers Development Programme (SMDP) returns for 2026.

This bespoke development programme is designed to highlight the current key issues facing international banks and provide practical advice on what members need to do to ensure compliance and minimise exposure.

Held in partnership with BCLP, who have extensive experience working with those in or applying for Senior Manager roles within banks, the programme will provide delegates with an understanding of the broad range of issues relevant to senior managers within and outside their areas of expertise.

Previous programmes have sold out within weeks.  The programme is limited to 33 attendees, so to avoid disappointment, we strongly advise you to book your place at your earliest convenience.

The course sessions provide an overview of specific legal and regulatory issues and will consider recent and future developments. The latest regulatory expectations and requirements for authorised firms and their Senior Managers will be outlined.

The course will commence with a short pre-course questionnaire to clarify attendees’ expectations and key learning aspirations. It will conclude with an optional 30-minute one-to-one call with a partner from BCLP.  Each session will include presentations, facilitated group discussions, and Q&A.

Who should attend?

The SMDP is primarily designed for individuals new to, or preparing for, Senior Manager Function roles. It is also suitable for those who support Senior Managers and require a practical understanding of the UK regulatory framework.

Existing Senior Manager Function role‑holders may also find the programme valuable to refresh or update their knowledge in light of recent or upcoming regulatory developments. The team are happy to advise on whether the programme is suitable for you, depending on your specific role.

It is recommended that the same individual attend all six sessions.
