AFB Virtual Seminar: The Geopolitical Outlook for 2025

AFB is inviting members to a virtual seminar where you can hear expert analysis from The Messina Group (TMG), a strategic, global consulting firm. 

TMG will comment on the outcome of the US election and the political changes in the EU and UK during 2024. They will reflect on how these events, and particularly how the election result in the US, will impact geopolitical risk assessments in 2025.

This session is aimed at those who focus on business issues within member banks.  Given the nature of the topic, it is also likely to be of interest to other roles and functions such as Risk, Finance, Legal, Operations and anyone with an interest in the current geopolitical outlook.

Speakers

Lindsey Kerr, Partner

Lindsey is a veteran of Capitol Hill, having served in the US House of Representatives and the Senate, with a strong understanding of Senate process and significant experience developing legislative strategies at the highest levels of government.

With nearly a decade of experience working for members in House and Senate Democratic Leadership, Lindsey joined TMG after serving as the chief of staff for Senator Amy Klobuchar (D-MN). As chief of staff, Lindsey was top strategic advisor for policy, legislative procedure, and press in the Klobuchar office, supporting the Senator’s work as Chair of the Judiciary Subcommittee on Competition Policy, Antitrust, and Consumer Rights, as well as her work as a senior Democrat on the Commerce and Agriculture Committees.

Prior to her time as chief of staff, Lindsey was the Democratic staff director and chief counsel on the Senate Committee on Rules & Administration, where she served as the principal legal advisor to the Committee, responsible for a range of issues including Senate Rules and procedure, campaign finance law, and federal elections.

Ty Matsdorf, Partner

Ty is a partner at The Messina Group and joined after guiding political and communication strategy at the highest levels of government and campaigns.

Ty focuses on domestic political activity, paid communications plans, policy advocacy work, and campaign strategy. At The Messina Group, he has advised Democratic campaigns and party committees as well as Fortune 100 corporations, advocacy coalitions, Super PACs, and ideological organizations.

Before joining The Messina Group, Ty most recently served as Director of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee’s independent expenditure where he was responsible for developing and executing an $80 million paid communication campaign in 31 congressional districts across the country. Ty previously served as Campaign Director for Senate Majority PAC helping implement a $75 million paid communications effort in key Senate races across the country. Ty was also responsible for running the Democratic War Room during the passage of the ACA. He has also held top positions on Presidential and Senate campaigns as well as serving as the top communications staffer for several United States Senators.
